A Green Morning in the Gardens of Sintra

Sintra's gardens reward visitors who walk slowly. Palms, camellias and damp stone paths appear in layers, with each turn hiding the full view until the last moment.

The Atlantic air softens the light and deepens every green. Even formal gardens feel slightly wild, as though the landscape has been allowed to keep part of its own plan.

The most memorable photograph here is rarely the widest one. A worn step, a veil of leaves or a figure pausing at the edge of the path can hold the whole atmosphere.
